The Do's and Don'ts
Do This
- Listen without judgment. Sometimes, they just need to vent about cramps or feeling emotional. You don't need to solve it.
- Offer practical help. "Can I get you a heating pad?" or "I'll handle dinner tonight" goes a long way.
- Track their cycle (with permission). Knowing when their luteal phase starts can help you be more patient and prepared.
- Stock up on essentials. Having their favorite pads/tampons, snacks, or pain relievers on hand is a god-tier move.
Don't Do This
- Say "Are you on your period?" during an argument. This is dismissive and invalidates their feelings.
- Complain about their low energy or libido. Their body is doing a lot of work. Be patient.
- Make fun of their symptoms or cravings. What's a joke to you can feel like a deep criticism to them.
- Take it personally. Mood swings caused by hormones are not a reflection of their love for you.
